Summary

As a highly visible and strategic leader, the Pricing Manager is responsible for driving company-wide pricing strategies across all product lines. The Pricing Manager plays a critical role incorporating diverse data points and stakeholder perspectives, including sales and inventory targets, customer needs, competitor and market analysis, target markets and segments, product roadmaps, and margin goals to develop pricing that enhances profitability and protects market share. This role also requires collaboration with the Sales, Product Management, IT, Manufacturing, Legal, Customer Service, and Finance departments to ensure alignment with broad business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead pricing strategy development, focusing on improving long-term profitability, market share, market development, and customer price perception.
  • Develop regression and other statistical techniques to determine optimal promotional strategy and annual pricing increase strategy. Collaborate with Product Managers to set annual and longer-term pricing strategies.
  • Develop decision making criteria to recommend and approve all price changes, supported by analysis of long-term financial, customer, volume, and market impact.

  • Establish and update list prices, every-day invoice prices, contract pricing, promotional pricing, and various pricing and discount exceptions. Present pricing analysis at customer strategy meetings, with insights, trends, and suggestions

  • Develop and implement customer rebate strategy and oversee payment processing.
  • Develop contribution profitability or other models to evaluate changes to product cost inputs and variable cost drivers, including trade terms, freight and logistics, and product mix.
  • Drive the implementation of pricing updates and policy changes, including external and internal communication in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Develop and maintain pricing guidelines and procedures, including internal record keeping and auditing, legal documentation, MAP, and Authorized Reseller Agreements.
  • Prepare regular pricing insights and reporting for senior leadership. Track market trends and keep up to date on prices set by competitors.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in roles related to pricing management, including managing pricing processes, analytics, and strategy, implementing pricing initiatives, and creating pricing process documentation.
  • Thorough understanding of cost accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, including the ability to transform large data sets into structured insights using statistical analysis techniques.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, familiarity with accounting software.
  • Experience in creating and scaling analytics with Tableau and PowerBI; knowledge of relational databases and SQL is beneficial. Familiarity with ERP systems, like SYSPRO and D365, a plus.

Work Conditions

  • Travel relating to company business may be required.
