Quality Inspector

The Quality Control Inspector inspects materials, test materials, and products for conformance to specifications by performing the following duties. 

Responsibilities

•    Performs basic dimensional and visual inspection of first article, in-process, and final inspection
•    Prepares and maintains required inspection records
•    Uses various measuring devices or instruments (Tape measurer, calipers, gauges, Qualified machines in the test lab) to ensure product compliance with specifications
•    Rejects defective parts, and marks type of defect on part, container of parts, or inspection sheets
•    May perform plastic melt index, UV, impact, and other materials and product testing
•    May perform under other programs or generate metrics for Statistical Process Control


Position Requirements

•    High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
•    One (1) to two (2) years related work experience
•    Good communication skills unwritten and spoken English
•    Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
•    Ability to utilize effective decision-making skills
•    Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations
•    Must communicate effectively and courteously by keeping all levels of management/intermediate personnel informed
•    Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision and colored vision

Work Conditions

•    High noise levels from operating machines.
•    Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.
•    Breathing fumes, dust, and mist.
•    Skin exposure to oils, cutting fluid, and solvents.
•    Fast pace.
•    High stress level.
•    Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead and bend to the floor
•    Exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently

VISUAL ACUITY:
•    Visual acuity required for identifying defects during inspection and for reading machine, tool, and written information.
