This position will be responsible for designing and developing all mold tooling from onboarding new molds through completing repairs and improvements to molds in support of ongoing production.  Onboarding new molds includes the writing and execution of process validation protocols and reports.  This position will assist addressing customer feedback issues with molded components, implementing process improvements on existing processes, and implementing cost improvement ideas.  

Roles and responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for managing the onboarding of new tooling within projects regardless of scale
  • Quote tooling, mold designs, source molds through approved suppliers (domestically and internationally), and track mold builds
  • Provide on-site support for tool builds and mold tryouts
  • Work with Engineering to lead design reviews and complete tooling refinement during development/validation
  • Provide support for tooling in production including spares management
  • Work with Process Engineers to resolve issues and maintain tool condition for the life of tooling
  • Track progress on tooling repairs and modifications.  Work with Engineering, Production, customers, and vendors to expedite in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Perform all work within ISO 9000 regulated work environment  

 

Requirements:  

  • At least 2 years of experience in tooling design, fabrication, development, testing, and validation
  • Understand design for manufacturability and have a track record of successfully implementing new tooling into production
  • Proficient in solid 3-D modeling using SolidWorks
  • Master’s in mechanical engineering or Design Engineering
  • Experience and understanding of de-coupled injection molding and structured process development
  • Familiarity with ISO 9000 requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. un-assisted
  • High level of attention to detail and meticulous record-keeping capability
  • Proven experience in managing projects and multiple responsibilities with little to no supervision
  • High level of initiative and flexibility in adapting to changing needs of a dynamic work environment Proficiency with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
