The EHS Intern will work with the Environmental Health & Safety Team, which includes working with team members to assist in day-to-day activities of the department, assisting in coordination and preparation of safety trainings, safety programs, assisting in risk assessments. This internship includes exposure to problem-solving, ergonomic, process improvement, and more.
This position contributes to the success of NDS by ensuring regulatory compliance and implementing risk or prevention- focused EHS initiatives and best practices and the NDS Lindsay site. As an intern you will gain experience at the facility level in a fast -paced manufacturing facility.
Competencies and Skills Needed:
- Must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal communication and relationship building techniques over multi-modes (phone, email, text, etc..).
- Must have exceptional initiative, positive approach, enthusiasm, accountability, persistence, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have the demonstrated ability to implement effective coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team building skills
- Must be independent, learn new concepts quickly and work with minimal supervision.
- Must keep department manager informed of results, key information, and issues.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing EHS policies and programs at the site level to assure that workplace conditions comply with all local government and company requirements
- Facilitate routine EHS inspections and incident investigations and work to implement corrective/preventive actions
- Review and update EHS training content and employee training profiles
- Maintain worker training and safety records
- Assist with maintaining the Safety Incentive & Value Based Safety program
- Implementation and adherence to the standards, practices, and programs as defined in our Safety Standard Operating Procedures
- Promotes the culture, the mission and vision, and the core values of the company. This includes adherence to and promotion of the company safety beliefs, employee engagement, competencies, code of conduct, and other policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
- Must be an active current student attending a college or university
- Demonstrated ability to work in a results-oriented, challenging environment
- Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation and team building skills
- Experience with Microsoft 365 programs (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Problem solving and decision-making skills.
