General Purpose:

The Sr. Material Handler performs all material handler operations related to loading and unloading trucks, verification of shipments, transferring material to shelves and picking material from shelves for customer shipments. The Sr. Material Handler is also responsible to assist the Shipping & Receiving team. This role is responsible for ensuring Shipping & Receiving Team members on 2nd shift are actively engaged and meet daily customer demands in accordance with the warehouse schedule.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Unloads supplier trucks by hand, using a Hi-Lo and/or using a pallet jack
  • Verifies incoming material for accuracy
  • Separates inbound material and transfers to warehouse racks
  • Checks in return goods through return material authorization procedures
  • Conducts daily Hi-Lo inspections
  • Receives materials into the ERP system, manually or by ASN (Advance shipping notice)
  • Pulls outgoing orders, either by hand, using a Hi-Lo and/or using a pallet jack
  • Verifies customer part number with NORMA part number
  • Verifies box quantity
  • Stages finished goods in designated areas
  • Assists logistic teams with the use of problem solving techniques, process improvement techniques, and other functions.
  • Trains team members in the most effective execution of work procedures.
  • Ensures customer demands are being satisfied
  • Ensures safety & quality standards are being maintained
  • Handles other duties as assigned

Experience must include:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use scale
  • Hi-Lo Drivers Certificate 
  • Strict attention to detail
  • Successful completion and understanding of the “labeling” aspect of the position
  • Fine motor skills and dexterity
  • Numerical and counting capabilities
  • Master all areas of Material Handling
  • Leadership skills, including communication, management & ability to troubleshoot & problem solve
  • Capacity to assist supervision/management as needed
  • Knowledge of inventory process
  • High School Diploma preferred
  • 3+ years of related work experience, including experience supervising a team

Physical Demands:

Must be able to see, hear, speak and write clearly in order to communicate with employees and/or vendors; manual dexterity required for occasional reaching and lifting of small objects, and operating manufacturing equipment.  Must be able to lift various weights as needed to meet job requirements.
