What is this position about ?
The Commodity Buyer is responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies across assigned commodities within the EMEA region. This role will focus on delivering cost savings, securing supply, and ensuring quality, while maintaining flexibility to support evolving business needs across various materials and suppliers.
Main responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and execute sourcing strategies for assigned commodities.
- Identify and select suppliers to meet the company’s quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
- Conduct supplier negotiations, focusing on achieving optimal terms and conditions.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives and total cost of ownership (TCO) improvements.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cost savings, supplier quality, and delivery performance.
- Identify opportunities for value creation and process optimization.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with key suppliers, ensuring performance alignment and strategic collaboration.
- Conduct regular supplier reviews and address performance issues as needed.
- Assess and mitigate supply chain risks to ensure business continuity.
- Develop contingency plans for critical commodities and suppliers.
- Partner with internal stakeholders (Operations, Quality, R&D, etc.) to align sourcing activities with business needs and timelines.
- Maintain accurate procurement data and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Provide regular updates on cost savings, supplier performance, and project status to Regional Purchasing Management.
About your expertise
- 3–5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or commodity management
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Experience in managing cost savings initiatives and delivering measurable results
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities
- Understanding of procurement processes, cost drivers, and supply chain risks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems
- Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus
