Production Planner
- College Degree
- Experience in Master Production Scheduler and Manufacturing Resource Planning
- 3 Years of proven experience in a similar position as Production Scheduler in Automotive Industry (Metal-Mechanic preferred)
- Good working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Power Point, Word)
- Proficient with MRP (Microsoft D365 - SAP – QAD or similar System)
- Self-Directed – Teamwork
- Full understanding of the Supply Chain Process
- Bilingual Spanish- English
Job Description:
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Own the weekly and daily production planning process and create detailed schedules, based on MRP calculations and demand.
- Develop optimized production plans including order sequencing, start and end dates, and capacity alignment.
- Monitor daily execution versus plan and track deviations; initiate corrective actions as required.
- Ensure production plans meet confirmed customer orders and shipment commitments while aligning with capacity and inventory strategy.
- Maintain Production Schedule in ERP by creating production orders, update and follow-up orders in the ERP system.
- Update daily production plans considering urgent orders and RAF (Ready for Assembly) requirements.
Capacity & Constraint Management
- Monitor demand versus available capacity and proactively identify gaps.
- Perform short- and mid-term capacity balancing and bottleneck analysis.
- Propose corrective actions such as overtime, shift adjustments, outsourcing, or rescheduling.
- Identify operational risks (material shortages, overload situations, scheduling conflicts) and lead mitigation planning.
- Consider available tooling, personnel, and components to prevent production stoppages.
ERP, MRP & Master Data Governance
- Maintain and optimize planning parameters (Lead Time, Coverage, Safety Stock, ABC/XYZ classification, calendars).
- Monitor and validate MRP calculations; resolve inconsistencies related to quantities, scheduling logic, BOM accuracy, and routing times.
- Support accuracy and integrity of planning master data (BOMs, routings, lead times, capacity data, work centers).
- Drive continuous improvement of planning systems, parameters, and processes.
Inventory & Service Level Management
- Align production planning with defined service level targets and financial objectives.
- Support periodic inventory strategy analysis and update ABC/XYZ classifications with optimization proposals.
- Ensure inventory levels are balanced against customer demand, working capital targets, and obsolescence risk.
- Prepare and maintain daily customer coverage and inventory reports.
SIOP & Master Production Scheduling (MPS)
- Supports the supply planning input to the SIOP process, including constraint analysis, risk scenarios, and mitigation proposals.
- Support preparation of the rolling 13-week Master Production Schedule (MPS), incorporating capacity constraints and risk evaluation.
- Provide transparency on demand-supply imbalances and recommend actionable solutions.
- Generate weekly MPS and adjust plans to ensure alignment with production reality.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Customer Service, Procurement, Production, and Logistics to ensure demand-supply alignment.
- Participate in daily Shop Floor Management (Gemba) meetings for production execution alignment.
- Support new projects, preventive maintenance planning, and implementation of engineering changes (ECR/ECO).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase planning stability, reduce planning nervousness, and improve operational efficiency.
- Support logistics and production optimization initiatives (e.g., warehouse utilization, material flow, line allocation, stock-taking).
Performance Management & Reporting
- Monitor and drive achievement of key planning KPIs: OTD/OTIF, Plan & Schedule Adherence, Inventory Turns/Days of Supply, Capacity Utilization, Obsolescence Reduction.
- Prepare regular production and performance reports, ensuring reliability and accuracy of data.
- Track customer-specific scorecards and daily operational metrics.
Compliance & Environmental Responsibility
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical principles, and internal procedures.
- Support ISO 14000 and IATF certification requirements.
- Contribute to recycling initiatives and conservation of energy and water.
- Adhere to safety, environmental, fire protection, and quality management system requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
- Attend and actively participate in meetings related to production, new projects, and cross-departmental initiatives.
- Perform ad-hoc tasks as requested by the supervisor to support the company's operational goals.
