If you like change, change to us

We are an international mid sized group with appetite for innovations, approachable management, lead by objectives / targets which give the opportunity of a wide range of empowerment. We as a growth oriented market leader invite you to join us on our journey from good to great!

We are seeking a stand-alone HR Manager for a maternity leave cover (12+ months) in Melbourne. This is not a background role — you will take full ownership of HR across the business, with one Payroll Officer reporting to you, and report directly to the VP HR APAC (dotted line to the General Manager Australia). We are ideally looking for someone who can commence at the end of June.

About the Role

This is a true generalist HR role with broad scope and real accountability. You will be the go-to HR professional for all people matters, driving operational excellence, compliance, and engagement across the business.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing day-to-day HR advice to managers and employees.

  • Managing employee relations matters, including performance, conduct, grievances, investigations, and terminations.

  • Overseeing payroll and compliance, ensuring statutory obligations are met and Workers Compensation is managed effectively.

  • Drafting and reviewing contracts, letters, policies, and employment documentation.

  • Driving recruitment, onboarding, and probation processes, ensuring a smooth employee experience.

  • Supporting managers with workforce planning, structure, and people issues.

  • Maintaining HR records, compliance systems, and reporting metrics.

  • Ensuring alignment with the Fair Work Act, NES, Modern Awards, and internal policies.

  • Leading and supporting change initiatives, helping employees and managers navigate shifts in processes, roles, and ways of working.
  • Identifying risk early and helping leadership make sound, practical decisions.

  • Coordinating performance management, remuneration reviews, and training programs.

About You

You are a hands-on, commercially aware HR professional who can operate independently and take full ownership of the HR function. You bring:

  • Proven experience in a senior HR generalist, HR manager, or HR practitioner role.

  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment law, including Fair Work, NES, and Modern Awards.

  • Experience managing disciplinary matters, investigations, performance management, and terminations.

  • Excellent drafting skills for contracts, letters, policies, and HR documents.

  • Confidence working directly with business leaders, providing practical, commercially sound advice.

  • High discretion, professionalism, and accountability.

  • The ability to manage competing priorities independently, without a large support structure.

Highly Regarded

  • Experience in a stand-alone HR role.

  • Exposure to operational, shift-based, or regulated workforces.

  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, logistics, or service-based industries.

  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, IR, Business, or Law.

What We’re Looking For

This role is ideal for someone who is:

  • Calm under pressure and strong in judgment.

  • Commercially minded with a detail-focused approach.

  • Firm but fair in decision-making.

  • Able to move seamlessly between strategy, risk, documentation, and operational HR support.

  • This is a maternity leave cover role for at least 12 months, offering broad exposure and responsibility in a dynamic environment.
