Engineering personnel who serves as a technical expert on product design. This role is responsible for developing new products (PDE) and managing the engineering tasks as defined in the PDE QMS.  Assisting NORMA’s Application and Process engineering community in detailed information regarding assigned product families is also a function of this role.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide necessary technical product support and interface with other departments and customers as needed.
  • Serve as the NORMA “product expert” for assigned product groups.
  • Develop product ideas and concepts based on customer and internal inputs.
  • Manage assigned product engineering projects within budget, time, and cost constraints.
  • Manage product design and documentation for assigned product groups.
  • Manage engineering tasks of the PDE QMS (PLC A, PLC B, PLC C-E) activities toward production.


Primary Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned:


  • Serve as engineering leader on PLC B, PLC C and Wave projects in accordance with NORMA’s PDE QMS. With other team members, present status, and action plans for project to management. Duties include:
    • Conduct Design Analysis, Design for Manufacturing, VA/VE, DFMEA, FEA
    • Establish Design & Development Planning
    • Create Design Verification & Validation Plan
    • Organize and analyze necessary testing
    • Oversee development of 3-D Math Data and Engineering Drawings
    • Lead Design Reviews


  • Conduct product training for assigned product families to educate NORMA’s technical community on important product design aspects.
  • Coordinate with Process and Quality Engineers to harmonize product design information (i.e. drawings, DFMEA’s) with process documentation (i.e. Control Plans, PFMEAs)
  • Work with Application Engineers in developing concepts and drawings based on customer, marketing, and sales team inputs and may be directly responsible for some customer contacts.
  • Work with Process and Application Engineers in troubleshooting specific customer design concerns and execute corrective strategies pertaining to product design.
  • Execute Value Analysis and Value Engineering projects to reduce cost and/or improve value to internal and external customers.
  • Conduct and record lessons learned analysis for future reference.
  • Maintain a highly cooperative, team-oriented demeanor with others in the execution of all responsibilities.
  • Continuously strives for improvement in the performance of all responsibilities.
  • Assumes responsibility for related initiatives as needs arise.
  • Travel – Less than 15%.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent degree or Professional Engineering certificate.

5 years of experience preferred.


Computer Skills:

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software including; Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, Access, Internet Explorer, and PowerPoint.

Parametric CAD experience preferred.

Windchill or other PDM software experience preferred.

Planview, Minitab or JMP experience preferred.


Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Project Management experience
  • Fluency in Spanish and English (Juarez Location Only)

  • Green and Black Belt problem solving methods
